yeah, just came across another thread about them, just wasnt in a book of species of my friends, but i see there isnt any size or bag limits. felt a bit bad cos i thought it was actually a baby of another fish, just the mouth threw me off alot. what size do they get? i used a berkley gulp shad minnow and trawled it a few meters behind my ski. all i had was a boga grip but it wouldnt keep still.
do people eat them, considering they made of 50% bones?

Wolf Herring. Never tried eating them. The slime on the skin puts me off. Apparently trolled they work well for couta.

That is a wolfherring or silky  -  very interesting fish, you often foul hook them in the top of the head because they try to impale /maim their prey with the two forward pointing teeth in the top jaw, the teeth retract into the head when the mouth is closed.

They can be a pest when targeting Natal Snoek with small feathers and clark spoons but are a good dead bait for couta.
