Navarone 17 Refurb

Motors on and running just having an issue with a vibration on the older motor, I’m thinking it has something to do with the props being mis-matched with the prop on the older motor being 19pitch. And the one on the newer being 15.

I’ve ordered a new 15, just busy waiting on it to arrive, hoping it’s not the possibility that the shaft is bent, will only find out once the new prop is on.

Hi i just found your post and its amazing all the work etc done. Not many people will tackle that job. I had a 12 and 13 pitch on my two motors and its unbelievable the difference between 1 pitch. That 4 pitch difference of yours will deff throw you out. If i may ask what did you pay for your boat. Im currently looking at one without motors for R18k but i think ill make an offer as theres work to be done...

Hi Fox Strike,

Thanks. yes the pitch did make a huge difference, i got a lot more speed with 17's than i did with 15's.

We bought her for 35k with trailer and old motor and managed to get 12k for the motor, but looking back if i knew how much work id need to do i think we shouldve gotten her for less.

I didnt see initially that we would need to refurbish as far as below deck.

What hull are you thinking of buying?

I ended up getting a 16ft acecraft center console with a spotless 115hp mercury trim and tilt and stainless steel trailer for R25k. Wil post pics later this week..transom just need some sanding, filling and new paint.

Nice Ace craft are great hulls. Someone told me the other day that a Navarone is an Ace hull that Navarone then extended the gunnel/freeboard which made it look bigger than the 16.6 it was based off. Lets see some picsof yours, make a post.

The Guys looking to do refurb projects, just a tip this hull we built heavier than before with adding two layers of chopped strand once we had sanded the hull clean, this added not only a bit of low down weight and a more sturdy feeling hull on the water but also made sure that any previous weaknesses from previous bumps and cracks or leaks were closed up.

This added low down weight for me has made the boat have a nice sea-worthy feel to it, especially when it comes to mono's if the boat is light a bit of added low down weight will make it a much better boat. ::tight:
