I will be there from Xmas day on, so if you are there, come up to the main house for a beer and i will go along with you. If you arent going to be there for the latter part of Dec, i will speak to Jacques and ask him to help you out. If you need advice on tackle etc for that time of year, let me know i can give you and overview that wont break the bank accounts.

Thanks for the invitation. We will be there from the 18th to 30th Dec, staying in the 10 sleeper unit. We stayed at Sera Lodge this September and in Zona Braza Dec 2007. Fishing were not good at all and I hope to have better fishing days this December. Marine police? gave us a hard time driving on the beach to Kings Pool and I wonder if it is still possible to go to Kings and Mermaid pool, or is there another way to get there besides driving on the beach?

Taguer, ah good one, you are staying in a great house! Not being bias, but you should find Nascer a little more comfy. I caught a lot of fish last year at that time, guess i few spots that i have found over the years, come on when certain conditions are prevalent. Marine police are clamping down heavily, although i do have a special permit for the beach. Problem getting to Kings is the one section near the Chidenguale Lighthouse, the reef i exposed there now, so tyres and rims can get whacked! That being said, 7 mile is just as good, as is 8.1 (those are the KMS from the lodge) depending on what you are going to be targeting etc. Let me know what you would like to catch and i will see if i can help. Flatfish, especially the Giant Sandies and Zambezis and Lemon Sharks are around big time, as are the Edibles Snapper/Rockcod/Stumpies. (for the bigger heavier R&S styles. Kingies are definatly around for dropshotting and fly, they just move along different sections depending on the conditions. A lot of the time people forget to fish right off the front of the lodge, which really holds much bigger fish, although not the quantity. Keep me posted on what you are targeting, and i am sure we can get you onto some fish.

Deceiver, thanks for responding - last Sept we crossed the exposed reef with a prado and trailer by spending about 30 minutes covering the sharp rocks with seesand and had no problems crossing - at that excact spot we caught a lot of small GT's, Big eyes and Needle scale Queen fish (small, about 500g to 1kg).
I had my share of catching sandies and sharks in the past (I will leave that to the young and tough) but I would like to do some 2 - 3oz dropshotting and plugging and night fishing for stumpies. Can you please indicate which bait is the best to use for night fishing?

30 min... you have more patience than me. Bring ZOOM Superflukes and Junior flukes in the baby bass colour. i have said this 100 time before, and trust me you wont find another colour now in my bag. works great in stained and clear water, is cheap and the Kingies LOVE them. As for the night fishing for stumpies, squid, sard combo works great. Sealice and Ghost crab are winners on the stumpies.
Otherwise if the guys come down from Vilinculos with the smaller prawns, these are deadly. Will get the folks to make a call for 5kgs of these prawns as i am also going to need some. Pajero, on a jetski, you arent going to have enough space in you holds bud. Last year on the boat i got a 13kg Dorrie on Dropshot (10lbs braid). Will send pic now. I hear the the smaller couta have already moved in, so by December the deeper stuff should be full tilt!

That place wasn't by any chance called masano back in the 60's I remember somebody telling me something like that. My grandfather used to fis there in the 60's and landed monster kingies, cob and rock cod. The one kingie weight 76 lb after weighing it in komatipoort a couple of days later. The cob I remember was 74 lb or something like that.
