only trolling motors to be used at nagle as there are lanes of cabel running all over the show due to the regular paddling events held at the dam. safety wise?well i use to park my car alone midweek and fish with my boet without a hint of an incident...BUT i'm not sure what would happen to a 4X4 or something more 'stealable' than my old rusty astra. the msinsi guys regularly park around the picnic area and this somehow made us feel alot safer. Watch out for cows, goats, drunkards and chickens on the road down...it's WAY more rural than inanda!!
we'v fished the dam many times off our fishing ski's.the water temp peak summer sometimes hits 29degs + which makes the fish rather lethargic. Having said that we'v had a good look at the dam when she was quite low and have mentally mapped some prime structure given pretty much any situation. This is not a venue i'd like to see over-crowded...the reason the fishing has been more productive than inanda (for us) is purely down to the fishing pressure it has received. there are alot of small fish at nagle but look at the wall in lionel crows' shop...there are some big fish! We've done alright size wise but its more for the numbers and the awesome march/april crankbait bite that we enjoy fishing the dam. It's def not a family venue in my books...i would NOT leave my missus and the kids alone (if i had) or take em down to the dam unless i knew there were going to be alot of people (over long weekends etc).
worth the risk?
i think so. perhaps until something happens. i'll be there saturday
tight lines guys
