Howzit guys,.
i decided to hit one of our beaches in false bay yesterday afternoon/evening. seeing its the first day that the water allows you to fish the beaches... so, one rod i rigged a elf head/flapper bait to look for a flattie and my other rod i rigged a smoothound head with the fillets wrapped on the sides.i waded about 40 meters to get the bait into deeper water over the drop off. well, the wait wasnt long and after 40minutes i heard my ratchet slowly starting to moan.. i picked the rod up out the pension pipe and felt the fish slowly pulling me flat, with the odd bump bump in between. when my rod was level to the ground, i walked backwards while winding in hard until i couldnt wind anymore, then i hit the fish, 5 or 6 times. the rod buckled and off she went! it was a really hard fight, only 20 minutes, but backbracking. i tried to fight her hard but still gave her 'room to move' when she wanted to run. luckily my bro in law was there to assist me with landing the fish.it was one of those fish that just got bigger the closer i got to her!we kept her in the wash to help her recover quicker. well, she measured 201cm, wich translates to 156kg! my new pb! heee haaa. she was tagged and after about 5 minutes reviving her, she swam off strongly.
enjoy the pics!
