The front console we fitted with 2 X 50hp Mercury 2 strokes, the centre console with 2 X 40hp Mercury motors.

They sell for less than your average jetski :)

Looks great! tell me how does she handle in the surf and at sea?

December I ran out in the centre console to Yellow Rope Mtunzini, about 16km. Big seas running there, got even bigger while there. After an hour I decided it was just too ruff (about 30 knot NE). WE ran back against the chop, got a little wet but for her size she handled it well.

The surf, she is so agile I can turn her in a flash, she runs in very shallow water (I launch through the mouth at low tide even), and I have hit my fair share of foamies and breakers, no probs. I have taken the front console through the surf as I'm up in Pretoria, but my dad took her out yesterday and he was impressed. He has been fishing for 50 years of the Natal coast, surf launching all types of boats in his day. So if he tell my a boat impresses him, you better believe it :)

What I like about these boats is that they makes fishing lekker again.

No worry about fuel. On that same day the wind dropped off and I ran back at about 11, did about 90km for the day, I used 23 liters for both machines.

My dad used 12 liters yesterday. I ran about 50km for the day, obviously playing, turning etc to test the new boat.

This is my centre console. Notice I changed the layout of the deck and had the console repositioned.

Must better handling than the standard one, and I thinks she looks better too :)

What length is she? Did you move your console further forward?
Thats very good fuel consumption for 2 strokes!

I moved it slightly backward actually, and fitted a coffin hatch/seat in front.

She is 14"7' or 4.3 meter

I must say those mercs have impressed me time and again.
But I have a friend that charters out of Sodwana with a 22' yeld cat.
HE fitted 2 X 115 hp merc optimax2. He says the consumption is better than 4 strokes.

In my opinion fitting 4 stroke in the place of 2 strokes in the smaller HP ranges just dost not make sense.

These 2 strokes are light on fuel, light in weight you can almost buy 2 sets for the price of 4 strokes. just my 2c.

On big boats pulling konas for blues all day long you might get the ROI, but not on small baots.
