Not quite sure, but I did experiment quite a lot to. You should be able to make a decent cannon with less that R250.
2m 50mm PVC pyp = R35
1 x 50mm endcaps = R6 total
2 x 90degree bends = R14 total
2 x threaded coupling to fit valve = R26 total
2 x Fitting for coupling = R26 total
2 x adaptors for valve fitting = R16 total
1 x 1" ball valve = R60
1 tube PVC cement = R20
Shrader tubeless valve from any tyre fitment centre = R8
2 x O-rings for the irrigation to pvc coupling interface
Total: approx. R220
Remember to cement all parts properly and let dry for at least 24 hours before first test. I used Marley PVC pipe and sections as it is good quality. Some products looked very flimsy to me so I stuck to SABC approved stuff. On some of my first tests I started off with 1bar pressure, then 2bar etc. I would not recommend going past 6bar, although I have gone up to 7.5bar quite a few times. Still have to test the new version at 6bar and a potato...
Here is a pic of the valve section. Note that this is still 1/2" valve. After upgrading to a 1" valve I get better distance with less pressure.
