Howzit boet

We had some good east come thru thus flat rocks is ideal for a cracker mission. A good day or 2 of east then go flats. I personally fish just before low and about 3 hours or so into the push (easier to wade and get a good cast in on the outgoing / low).

I have found that more bites are from 10h00-15h00 in the day.

Bait anything with a hard shell that sticks to a rock - saddle back / cockle etc - cut in blocks up the hook and cotton.

Use decent strong hooks (eg 6-8o Kendals) with a short hook snood about 15cm of 0.80. I fish with a fixed sinker just a bit shorter than the hook snood BUT some guys only fish running this is just my personal preference.

I use a 6oz rod and a decent reel with 0.50mm mainline and 0.80 leader.

I have caught plenty cracker especially scratching targeting bronze bream. Spots to fish from the beacon right thru all along the wild side.

Tight Lines

Hi Dieter

Thanks for the feedback, question where can i find saddle back in that area.... i am new to PE so this type of fishing is also new to me never targeted Cracker before so this is all new to me.

When looking for saddle back where do i look for them and how do i get them off the rocks they are stuck to ?

Hi bud

Park at the beacon and walk along the board walk on the low tide. Turn over big rocks and you will find them.

You can also go to the flat rocks parking lot and walk left back towards the beacon flipping rocks.

Beachview the cracker come out but usually on Red Crab and red bait.

so marine is a better bet for cracker then.... from flat rocks all the way to schoonies i presume ?

And best to fish with saddle back that side i take it ?

You have more of a variety to fish along that side not to say it is better.

If you fish along the marine drive use red bait with your saddle back (cotton the red bait onto the shell).

what is the best way to rig saddleback and how do you get them off the rock can you use a knife or is there a special tool to get these buggers off

If you can get them on the day that is best BUT nothing wrong with freezing them.

Use a knife to take them off the rocks.
You can cut the meat out the shell and cut it into blocks & thread up your hook like a sisati stick - wrap the guts on with cotton.

Or you can put the whole thing on your hook including shell combined with red bait.

Another way is to make the hook come out the shell and put your sinker inside the curve of the saddle back, cotton it as a combo. When its in the water it rolls around looking more natural also very easy to cast as one unit.
