Muddy Water

Me and a friend are going to try out a basicly unfished venue.Locals say there are Bass but its hard to catch since the water is muddy and has zero visability. . .

Is there anybody that might have some tips on making our trip a sucsess?any advice apreciated!Baie drankies in voorbaat

Try using lures with lots of vibration as well as lots of sound. also use dark colours.

Hey there..

Fishing for bass in muddy water can be difficult but certainly possible. Because the water is muddy it prevents light penetration so the bass will move to shallower waters were it is warmer. Find the shallow waters in ur area n u will probably locate the bass. Use lures that have noise and vibration as the bass are not relying on their vision to catch prey. Bright yellowish greenish colours should do the trick, if not try ur darker colours as well. Fish the lures slower than usual and u should be in the money!!

Use glass beads between the sinker and hook to create a knocking sound. We sometimes use brass sinkers to create a so called brass-and-glass Texas rig.

Same goes for Carolina rigs when you have a glass bead between the swivel and sinker.

You can also crankbaits with rattles inside them

Other times the mere vibration caused by ribbed plastics or plastics with appendages gets picked up by the lateral line of the bass.

Another trick is to get your lure as close to any cover or structure. In muddy water bass wil tend to stay as close to it as possible and avoid straying too far from it.
