it all depends on you. i fish from Kabeljou klip right down to towards the mouth. you can catch some nice shad,Kob,and Cape Stumpnose from the rocks.

but be careful to only have your correct quota of prawn. 50klip 50 pink otherwise the inspectors are gonna give you a heavy fine.

Hi Manx

We have always fish off the shore, the rocky point just behind the yacht club.

Light tackle is best. 1-2ounce sinker 0.40 or less on line.  You can fish anything from a 6ft stick to 12ft.

Pump your prawn at the back area of the lagoon, so you're fishing with fresh bait.  Take some chokka (squid) with as an alternative.

Hope that helps.

I heard it has been poor at Langebaan these last few weeks. Apparently the stumps will go on the bite again as it gets more into Autumn. Someone else mentioned this on another topic.

Yup, that's what I hear too.  Apparently the bigger ones come in the bite in Autum.

From what I hear the iron ore jetty is the spot, but I don't know if you can fish from there from the shore, so if anyone can shed light on that, I'd appreciate the advise.

My last trip to Langebaan, about 2 months ago only produce Smoothhound sharks.

The iron ore jetty is off limits. You need a special permit and need to go in December for an interview. You can only fish at certain times. With the permit you can take only 2 or 4 people and must show your ID! Quite tough to get in but i hear BIG fish are caught here.

then why not just go to the portnet harbour. i caught some big stumpies there. its like R1.70 to go in. all you need do is produce your valid fishing permit
