Mono or fluoro for new setup?

I got a new Quantum Surge for an Awa-Shima medium-heavy rod I won at a comp last year. The rod has been gathering dust until today when I got this reel to equipt it with. I usually fish for bass with my spinning setup, but now that I have this combo I want to dedicate it for catching bass on plastics. I am a big fan of fishing plastics weightless for bass and would like to have the option of fishing weightless when the situation require it. So I was wondering which line would work better on this combo when considering that I want to cast light setups with ease? Mono or fluoro? I will appreciate any feedback, can't wait to give this combo a go:fishn

Ek nou nie 'n expert nie, so kyk maar na die volgende infographic ...

Volgens wat ek kan aflei is fluoro digter so dink sink beter/vinniger. Ek weet ook dat baie ouens braid as mainline gebruik en slegs 'n fluoro leader aanknoop.

Ek self gebruik maar gewone Double X mono - hou ook daarvan om weightless vir bass te hengel en het nog geen probleme gehad nie.

I would suggest braid with a fluoro leader.

Ja kyk floro sink lekker vinnig wat help met weightless.
Maar floro is baie dikker as Mono en ook baie harder.

Vir my is daar niks beter as Double X 18LB green hy is lekker dun en BAIE sterk het hom op my quantum smoke en gebruik dit vir van no 0 mepps/weighth less tot spinner baits.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I know the perks of both lines quite well, but the key factor I am wondering about is which line casts weightless plastics better. I remember that a friend once recommended mono for casting weightless plastics, but I just want to confirm this.

I am sure you are aware that with weightless fishing you have to be in contact with lure as much as possible! I would definitely advise you use fluoro gives you a more consistent drop as well!

Agree with Hennie on the Fluoro.
Personally I would suggest Sugoi Fluorocarbon (Gary Yamamoto), it is a bit pricy but by far the best I have used. Perfect for a weight less setup.

I would think that casting would depend a lot on you setup and line would be only one aspect, I can cast a finesse worm a very long distance using 10lb fluoro with my MGX Abu reel and a medium rod! The reel play a major part in the distance, smooth drag is extremely important.

In general I find braid is NOT good for fishing bass fishing, except if I fish a frog in dense grass. The braid assist to cut through the grass, opposite to what you are saying As mentioned that is in my experience!

some find it hard to cast with braid...

Hey guys just some feedback. I got myself 12lb Seaguar fluoro which I put on my new bass setup. After 4 trips I have caught several bass on this setup. Really fancy the line as it casts light setups with a breeze. Here is the biggest fish I have caught using the fluoro with my new setup, a 2.44kg bull caught on a paddletail. Thanks for all your advice
