Guys

Glad to see, you's guys are missing me, Now, Loams, whats cooking up there in the foreign lands/waters, why you no catch anything, ey?

I caught 1 LGF, or rather a larger LGF than I ever did before, YIP, I've Got a new PB, and it breaks in at 1,64kg.

Was a "aaaaagggggg dammit I'm stuck (after leaving the lure for a while trying to sort out the kids lure issues) and OY the line's moving to the side, (swimming tree branch), NO I don't think so, kinda take.

Out she came and there the scale said 1.64kg's, couldn't believe it so I weighed her twice and the same result.

The Kid, got six more all ranging between 220g's and 460g's, and unfrotunately my Bud only caught a few submerged branches, but he also had a couple (2) serious attacks on the lure, but missed the hooksets... Eish!

I'll post the Pic in the Gallery after this post.

Nicely done bud!!!

Maybe I am just fishing too fast... I dunno boet, but I am not catching a thing!!! Your post does make me think I am fishing too fast though.

Where did you catch that monster??

This is then gonna kill you, I only caught the 1, the "Bosses" son caught 6, and he was burning the lure through the water most of the time, reelling in the slack and jerking the same bait two to three times really hard and reeled in the salck and so forth, so fishing slowly, fishing fast, I dunno, only difference is he caught 6, I caught 1, his ranged between 220 and 460 grams and mine was 1.64kg's.

Oh caught her at Roddeplaat off a submerged tree still standing upright as it was when they filled the dam and not a very big or tall tree, in about 3 meters of water, the smaller one all came out of no deeper than 50cm's of water....

So, Now you tell me?

Regarding fishing fast, and fishing slow..

I reckon if you fish fast, you'll catch small fish, as they are more aggressive feeders than the older gals, The big Bass, being more clever, know they need to conserve energy, so they won't chase small baits, nor will they chase something fast. They want to get as much food as possible with the least amount of energy spent... Which is why you caught the big gal, and your son caught lotsa smallies... My 2c anyway.

Ok, so why dont we go fish there when I come up on the 9th?

Very nice LGF,

Did you fish of the bank or a boat, and whereabout on the dam did you get them? Anyhow congrats on your new PB.

You hit the nail on the head.

Small fish are like small kids. They are full of energy all time of the year. Where by the older we get the lazier we get when it gets cold

Do you know Roodeplaat?

If so, we launched (caught off the boat) (son caught from the bank), from the Big Nature reserve on the Moloto Road, boat launch place and headed towards the dam wall but instead of turning left to tha dam wall we turned right into the bay that's cricular in shape and fished the side closest to the launch area, I think the banks belong to the Aqua Club of the Dept of Water Affairs.  There's some dead trees in the water thats not really visible from a distance as the branches of only one of the trees are sticking out and at their highest point they're only about 12 cm's above the water, the rest of the structure is still submerged (and this is with the water level 3m's lower than the avarage (Full) waterline, so when the dam fills up again you probably won't even be able to see the structure from the surface, but it is there and it most probably will be there for some time to come.  (One Pos about the low leveles is that you can now see structure and make notes of it, that otherwise would only be seen through a fishfinder if you have one)

My Bud got his two takes on the same tree also fishing it in almost the same deadsticking manner.

That's the way it works, boet, now thats also made me wonder, us reading up and analysing and studying and approaching the hunts from a scientific angle and this and that, and here comes the kids, hooks the ugliest most inefficient (according to our learnered status) and bust the fish like it's nobody's business, not even applying any of the rules ito tackle nor technique......

Just pure luck? I would like to believe that, but I think I'll be lying to myself just a tad for saying that...

Yeah it does make you drink, I mean think...
