I want to take a youngster for some fishing in Milnerton Lagoon. Will I be waisting my time. Want to take some really light tackle.

Is there any activity in the lagoon yet? What bait would be the best to use?

In the old days when you could fish off the wooden bridge i used to mix flour and water till it was a thick paste and roll onto hook. It worked well as i caught lots of mullet. How it will cast i am not sure however it does stick to the hook like glue

Get a netting bag - the one oranges are sold in.  Take some pap pilchards and mush them up. mix some sand with it and throw it in the bag.  Tie a rope around it to close it and also so you don't lose it - throw the bag in and shake and leave it in the shallows.  Short before long you will have a big shoal of very hungry mullet in front of you!

Tie a three-way swivel on and make two hook snoods - one long (approx 40-50cm) and a short one (20cm).  Hooks no bigger than size 10.  On the long snood a larg bait and a small one on the other hook.

Fish off the wooded bridge if you can.

My boet told me that there was a lot of action there two weeks ago - something was chasing the shoals of mullet.  Could it be that leervis have made an appearnce again?  The last time I remember leervis there was 87-88.

Cheers

Heard from a couple of guys while I was throwing some livies about a month ago there that they had seem a couple of sandsharks could also been fun on the light tackle!
