So I am back in the saddle, Or should i say back out of my saddle of my trusty kayak and back at work.
I have spent six woderfull days at this prime kayak fishing destination.
The weather played along on all the days with only two afternoons too windy to launch (maybe i was too lazy ha ha ha)
The launch to say have been the the most challenging not difficult but challenging that i have seen it in a very long time.
The fishing was great as usual and if catching couta is your forte then this was the week for you,as soon as you put bait out you are on. So by Tuesday i had my kwota of couta for the week and went exploring new spots and new methods to get some other species.
It was very dissapionting not to catch any yellofin tuna or other tuna species after pulling lures for for long distances every morning
As with all fishing trips i had to promise the wife to take her on a date after the trip and i decisded to just incorporate it into the trip and took her couta fishing on the spare ski. after some worrying moments during the launch i finally got her to back line, baited up for her and off we went. needless to say soon her reel was screaming off and she landed her first couta on the ski. Maybe i will get some more fishing time now.
With no tuna and lots of couta I went the dropshot way to bag some more species, Soon i was on with a good sized kakaap and also had a couple of chases of kingies that just would not take the lure for some or other reason. lots more other reef species and kakaap till the week came to an end.
