Midas Inflatable Boat + Motor

Hi guys,

I really enjoy fishing alot but sometimes its quite difficult to get to lekke spots in some of our EP rivers if you are only restricted to the banks

Most people i talk to catch alot of fish either high up in the river or close to the mouth but lets take Gamtoos for example: The only fishing spots thats easy accesible is the BIG FISH camping site or the Fiery Hotel but this stretch is more often than not quite "dead"

I have fished there alot and while i only catch very small fish (mostly stompies), the boats dock with HUGE kob or grunters (and that is only the one or 2 they keep, not even to mention the others they release). This got me packing more often than not haha...

Anyway, i was thinking of getting myself one of MIDAS inflatable boats with a electric motor... Just to get to some of these "spots". I'll keep in mind not to get from 1km or so from the river mouth as the currents can really be tough at rivers like swartkops... All in all i think it will probibly work out to be around 4000 bucks for everything including anchors etc.

Worth it? I would love to buy a cabin boat but thats waaay out of my money range :kaykak

any suggestions to help with a decision?:fishn

If you going to do this, get yourself a Minnkota 54lb trolling motor. They made for sea and fresh water!I won't buy any less than 54lb as you will need to cope with the river currents.

I agree, dont buy a motor smaller than 54lb.

I bought a watersnake 2.90m inflatable boat (jarvis marine) & 54lb watersnake trolling motor for R7100.

Its very stable in the water & comes with aluminium floor boards & paddles.

The boat comes with a five- year hull material warranty and three-year hull seams warranty.

Anchor & deep cycle battery will have to be bought seperately.

Hi Jacko,
I have the Mariner 4 with with 54lb watersnake SWET adition (made for salt) i am running it of a 102ah deep cycle battery. It goes lekker with 2 people on. I fish the swartkops river close to the mouth and that setup glides through the current. t(((up((

Difficult to say. put it this way. i can go from tiger bay to bluewater bay about 4 times that is 4 times to bluewater bay and 4 times back. that is far if you calculate the distance of one trip. I can give a guesstimate of about 1hour to 1 and a half  hour of continuous running at 8kph. (full speed)
