Mercury Fourstroke Over Revving

Hi,I have a KosiCat 17 WA with 2 x 2013 Mercury Fourstroke 60hp Bigfoots. One of the engines (starboard) runs beautifully however the port-side one has started to over rev at idle. It is probably running at 400-500 revs higher than the starboard engine. I have been told that this could be a mechanical linkage problem. Any suggestions on what to check or do?

Hello buurman ;)

Is it not just a simple case of too little slack in the throttle cable? Does the idle speed change slightly when you turn full lock one side to full lock the other side?

Andre van Heerden in town is quite clued up on motors. Shout if you need his contact details.

Check idle air control valve. Sounds like it is stuck or the pipe has disconnected from the valve or manifold.
