back in the day, when I was about 5, my dad had a boat. A real fish-for-income die hard type oke. He told me how one day he looked around and a wall of water stood infront of him. Instinctively, he cut the anchor and they shot up the face of the wave and dropped a good 6-8 meters at the back of it. If not for his action, they all would have been gone.
I wanted to go with him to sea, but the rocking motion of the boat at that age just put me off. but there where the love affair with the sea started.
Now older, and hopefully wiser, I got bitten by the bug about 4yrs ago when a bunch of friends went to Langebaan for a day's socialising, with fishing as a secondary activity.
I was given a little rod that you buy for the kids, with the little cofee grinder, and after that fish stumpnose took me on that extra light tackle, I was hooked.
Thus the baan remains my altime fav place of all. She has treated me kindly over the years. Not much variety, but you 90% of the time at least certain of some activity - even it is the little stumps (which I throw back

) . Just to give you a little confidence after 5 blanked outings to strandfontein
