Melkbosstrand Fishing Restriction

Why after 30 years of existence has Eskom (Koeberg Nuclear Power) unilaterally  decided to extend their beach boundry by a further 1 klm.

This has effectively cut-off  a popular fishing spot and white mussel collecting beach to residents and visitors to Melkbos. As it is we are limited to the amount of beach space, why rob us of more?

I think Eskom have some explaining to do, or will we all be turned into criminals if we disobey their newly erected beach notices.

Problem is some broke the law now everybody got punished. Think this was because a few went mad with the last steenbras run there.

So where are we allowed to fish now? And where is it illegal? Or did they just put up a fence or what?

Great initiative that some of our coastline gets protected, yes it's a pain today, but tomorrow we'll have beautifully steenie specimen instead of all the juveniles going to the pan like last year.

From the car park as you enter on the beach years ago there was a notice board.
About two mnths after the steenie thing last year they started asking the guys to move further down the beach and only fish to the left of the entrance.i know of was guys stopped from night fishing.They where fishing couple of security guys asked them to move and told them they were going to stop the fishing that far down because of secu,noice by the houses , car 2 in the morning etc etc...
Some clever people claimed it was bull etc stil bly ook n antw.
