me and a buddy were off to langebaan (spreeuwalle) last weekend for a kolstert mission,. well, we got there and drove down to the normal spot were we pump our prawns..... the whole place is closed off, from both sides. theres a boom on the upper road, about 500 m from were we normally walked down. no entry.. and from the tarred road, towards geelbek, its also closed off...

its going to make this summer really difficult i recon.

anyways, me and my mate caught in excess of 30 to 40 stumpies each, different sizes, from18 to close to 30 cm... middle of winter.

enjoy the fishing!

i dont think you are allowed to close of access to the public if they have always had access... someone needs to write to someone...

that will be a pity, that put dampner on our flyfishing for sandsharks in sharkbay . MCM uses that road as well, because they checked our permits their when we walked down to the beach

A wealthy greek bought the area for development. Talking under correction you are not allowed to deny access 100m from the high water mark but the thing is that it is further that. That is why he is allowed to camp off the area! But I think his is just proving a point to the locals that apposed his development scheme

this same oke was issued a notice to repsond as to why he illegally removed fynbos... pending a fine.

now you say he has fenced it off!

will definitely oppose his development scheme.

This area is the prawnflats to the south of the yacht club, the area we call "oostewal". Yep, this is a very rich guy that bought this land and has been trying all kinds of tricks to get his development approved, without much success. As you can all imagine, just about everyone living in Langebaan is opposed to this issue. He has tried to block the roads from both directions with booms, fencing& rocks, but was forced to remove them by court order.

The latest news in our newspaper, Die Westlander of today, a certain judge Baardman has declared that he may not enforce any criminal charges on anyone using this road untill such time the case has been brought to court again. But this is not to say that the boom must be removed or that any ground next to the road may not be used to gain access to the beach area.....................????????

The last paragragh reads: " Die provinsiale regering het onlangs 'n aansoek van Dormell om hul Klein Oostewal eiendom te ontwikkel, afgekeer.Dormell appelleer teen die besluit. Die belastingbetaaler-vereniging asook die weskus Nat.Park staan die residensiele ontwikkeling tee.

I suppose time will tell, but the "RICH AND FAMOUS" normally get their way......"you know what I mean ???"

Guys you got the wrong info here , we bought that piece off land a few months ago under the intention to develope a 100% green built holiday resort , we did a EIS that took 3 years to complete and the outcome was that no Fauna and Flora would be effected. We did however sign a gaurantee that we would preserve the plant life and that is why we proposed planting canabis on the whole stretch , whoooo hooooo

I really hope they are stopped !!!!!

Guys, aggression is not going to help. Let's go about it in the right way. Sign petitions, write letters to the press, talk to your mates to back us up. I'm sure that the Langebaan ratepayers assosiation will help where possible. The local municipal office or parksboard is bound to be able to help with contact detail.
Other than that, walk or drive around the boom where possible. Nobody will fine you if you don't go bossies and charge around in the fynbos, but drive around the boom and use the road available to park at the normal parking area and walk down to the prawnflats.
