we heading there as well.
the 2 top spoys are the island in front of the hotel and boiling pot just south of the hotel.
expect any species from there. your bigger fish are more abundant.
off the island....the water drops to like 12m. its really really really deep water.
bigger baits like yellow tail/bonnies etc seem to get a quicker pull. but the good old makkie always does the job as well.
the swimming crabs can be a problem and clean your bait to the bone before fish can find it. if that happens...try using a whole yellow tail as they seem to be a bit more hardy than bonnies etc..
u will encounter anything from bronzies/greys/raggies/blackfins/whites and some huge flat fish. those black pylies are also caught there.
most often encountered are those blackfins...usually breaking u 9 times out of 10.
a very good bait are sandies which are caught on the side of the island in the surf.
when you stand on the island (facing the sea)...there is normally a rip going out on your left. place baits there for a quick pull.
please be carefull of the slimy rocks on the forfront of the island...terribely dangerous when landing fish and freak waves come through.
raggies always mess u up on the front ledge of the island...try and give them some line and try and pull them on the side gulleys.
most fish are landed on the right side of the island in front of the hotel....but if your fish movers north...take him to the beach there but try and get up as high as possible as there alot of bolders that can cut u off. remember that...as it will determine if u land your fish or not.
the salmon (cob) and garrick are also plenty at the island...throw plugs/spoons for thm. bronze bream as well infront of the island.
boiling pot about the same. if you have a day or 2 of east winds....your chances improve . dont be put of by a blistering south west....they still bight.
one of the better baits to use are the live shad. u will get blackfins and zambies on them.
there are alot of scratching grounds as well but its hard to direct you to them
contact a guy by the name of Andrew. he grew up there and he knows that place better than anyone. he will take you to all the top spots.
also...if u into swimbaiting....u aregoing to fish in the mecca of swimbaiting so give it a chance. but beware...we saw 3 guys getting stripped on tn50s.
go with the best of baits....but if u cant...the shad will be your number 1 choice.

was there in Oct last year. Weather was lousy for 8/10 days. got one Small Hammer (15-20kg), and lost a Huge Piggy. Fishing was really terrible. not much came out amongst all fishermen.
Lots of diffferent spots to fish, and its a lovely place to stay.
Advise you get a guide who knows the area, as that sea can be deadly

We were there in August and the weather was foul, we had one good day and all that was caught by us was a hammer of about 15kg that I caught with a whole chokka.
the road is really bad in places but they were working on the road with graders when we went passed so don't know what the road is like now.
