Maxel Fishing Rods

Recently on a boat trip out I gave the Maxel Transformer slow pitch jigging rod a go and what a machine!!
It's feather light and bends double without any issues.
I'm hoping someone on Sealine has experienced an alternative brand or can tell me what they are using for slow pitch jigging, before I invest in the Maxel rod which is retailing at 6k+.
I spoke to Barry from Basil Manning and he told me their version of the rod is only in it's sample phase and will only available in 6-9 months time.
Any comments or inputs will be appreciated

Depends on your budget, but if you're already looking at a 6k+ rod, for an extra couple of bucks you could get a Maven Pacific, which is built on a CTS custom blank. Not the cheapest option around, but in my humble view Maven builds the ultimate fishing rods. Not only in terms of it being a great "tool", but also because the rods are works of art.

howzit Eugene,how are you mate?
Thanks for your reply, where can I view these rods?
This facet of boat angling has got me proper, hook, line and sinker.....
Plus it scales down on "bycatch" so no hook ups with roman which don't handle barotrauma too well and no nuisance smaller fish.

Hiya mate, I'm great, thanks for asking. If you're shopping for new rods I take you're not doing too bad yourself? ;)

The rods are produced in NZ, which will add significant shipping charges I'm afraid, unless you plan on visiting there some time soon. Here's a link to their webpage:

Enjoy mate and let me know if I can help.

I'm good thanks bud!
The shopping never ends haha...
I'll have a look on the site, luckily I'm in the fortunate position of having access to the Japanese and American fishing market.
Have family in NZ and Aus coming over in December,so it works out perfectly if I find what I am looking for.
Thanks for the help mate!!
When is your next trip?
You got me wanting to pack and leave SA sooner than intended with your last report of the Mahseer

I know that tackle shopping virus all too well :) Sounds like you've got a good thing going on. I just noticed you specified slow pitch jigging - I'm not sure if they have a slow pitch rod in their range if I'm honest, but you can have a look and decide for yourself what you think.

I'm visiting Gabon next month for 10 days, so I'm hoping to tangle with a big poon, I'll let you know how that goes. Tight lines with the jigs, hope you get bent properly.
