on the topic of bio-degradable soft plastics, a friend told me he was fly-fishing & caught a grossly deformed bass which he kept and gutted and found that the stomach was full of undigested soft plastic worms.
-makes one think there is merit in using the biodegradable lures

CK, I am many things but not a liar. In Singapore try Fireline 125yds for R107, Rapalas for R62 (not the crap that nobody uses), Shimano Ocea Jigger 5000 for R4250. In Aus, average prices for Gulp R58, Shimano Torsa 16N for R4699....... This was in the last three days. The SA consumer is getting reemed!

Of coarse your not. That is what I'm trying to explain here. It is not only shimano, aka RapalaVMC. It is in fact all the suppliers that is expensive. I'm sure you noticed that in Singapore it is not only shimano but also all other brands that is cheaper. Not only that, take a look at what you pay there for gold, and electronics. Guys, we are not getting ripped off by the wholesaler, everything that comes into SA is expensive, what do you think you'll pay for your car in Australia????

mate next time your in oz and looking for berkley gear - find a "big w"(there every where, just find a shoping mall) ave price for gulps is around $6 instead of the $10 found in the tackle, camping stores .

its not a huge saving, but if your buying a few pkts , u could stock up on the savings.
