mask fitting

Hey chaps
What is the correct way to size and fit a mask? I bought a cressi -sub mask from mr price sports and snorkel, I was snorkeling at ponta de oura and found that was leaking by my nose . I dont know if it was the snorkel pulling the mask or the mask not fitting my face correctly? What is the best way to fit snorkel to mask ?

Hi Deon, when I fit a mask I push it onto my face while holding my breath. If it's a good fit the suction will keep it there, you don't have to inhale through your nose to keep the mask there. Another thing I notice is if I don't shave, even a snug fitting mask will leak. So holiday stubble is not so cool... Regarding attaching mask to snorkel, I find that closer to the mask is better ie not further back along the strap but, not too far forward either of course. If you have a curved snorkel it works better than the old straighter ones which vibrate when you're swimming fast and the drag pulls the mask skirt away from your face. Hope this helps
