Just got news now, details still sketchy

2 Anglers were fishing on Marine Drive, by Gate 6 (not far from the Anchor), on their way back to their vehicle they were attacked.

1 Angler ran away and jumped into the water, the other

Angler WAS SHOT DEAD today by 4 Nigerians (they have been busy for a few months already) for R 700 and 2 cellphones.

DO NOT fish in secluded places, rather fish where there is activity.

The 4 Nigerian Males have been active around the WHOLE MARINE DRIVE for a while now, and are ALL ARMED.

BE CAREFUL ...

Maybe its time to donate our R65 fishing licence money to the government sothat they can employ more cops instead of being ripped off by our conservationists.

Sincere condolances to family members.

Honestly, there is only one answer to this, and that is to respond in kind to these barbarians. Our constitution is very clear, you may defend your life with any means necessary. It happens everyday that people shoot in self defence, and they don't go to jail.

The simple fact is that 90% of these people are here illegaly, and are not on any government record. So they kill and pedal drugs with impunity knowing they'll never be caught...well one day they'll come across the wrong person and they'll end up in a cold room in a morgue nevermind a cell.

My condolences to the family of the poor guy who was just doing what he loved IN HIS OWN COUNTRY!!!!!

Why doesn't the police set a trap for these criminals, or are they involved? I would like to slide a  nigerian for a zambi!

Killer fish , I am afraid thats not going to help either. The only way is to protect oneselves and fish in numbers. Sad but true.

Until this country shies away from the death penalty and care more for the rights of its people and not crminals we will never come right and we wil never be safe. I believe the moment you commit a serious crime as in rape , murder then u give up your rights.

Condolences to his friends and family.

The idea of my posting was to warn others to be careful, not to make a call to go to war. This happens every single day ALL OVER South Africa.

I still don't know who it was, but changes are good I probably know the guy !
This angler was shot POINT BLANK in the head !

When you fish, park in places where there is lots of movement, parking all alone in the bush IS LOOKING FOR TROUBLE.
Being armed is good, but not always the solution, remember THEY SURPRISE YOU, and when you are outnumbered 4 to 1 they gonna take your firearm anyway.
9 out of 10 times it's best TO DROP EVERYTHING and run, don't look for a confrontation.
FlatRocks, Blougat and The Anchor normally has lots of people there and more important, lots of cars moving around in that area, so it's a much safer bet than driving down into the bush to park RIGHT BY your favourite spot.
When you come back to your vehilcle rather walk on the sand/rocks than taking a shortcut through the bush.
ALWAYS be on the lookout, even WHILE fishing.

If you are a few anglers, DON'T ALL WALK TOGETHER, you MAKE AN EASY TARGET. Walk 20 or 30 meters apart, cause if there is trouble the others have time to assess the situation and react. Even if just one person can get away it gives that person time to phone for assistance.

If you are confronted, try to create a diversion that will give you a second or two to turn and run. A simple few words like "watchout here comes the police" will make them all turn their heads and look, that GIVES YOU a second to drop everything and run.
They will first look to see if the police is really there, then have to realise that you are running away, then see you dropped everything, it takes their attention off you.

RUN LIKE HELL and get to either a busy road or IN THE WATER.

Rambo is old and only a movie, YOU ARE NOT HIM.

Hi Neal,

I am also not propogating a war, please make no mistake.

Neither do I suffer any illusions that I am Rambo. But sure as hell these monkeys will not assault or murder me without at least a good fight and them suffering similar consequences. I might be older, but I still shoot straight.

I have never run away from a good fight and dont intend to do so now or in the future.

After all, we are much better trained than they are (or at least I hope you are), they are invarioubly merely a bunch of uneducated skunks without a consciounce.

If we keep running away they will take over piece by piece till they controll every inch of territory without fear of resistance.

Please dont tell me that you have any expectations or hope that the SAPS will protect you.

You guys in PE should long ago have done something incisive about the scourge of the Nigerian criminals that are taking over your beautiful city.
