Does anyone have any news on whats happening in the area?Whats coming out where? And on what baits?

Pps: does anyone know of how to get as close to the ledges as possible with a 4x4. I know driving on the beach is no longer allowed, but i saw on google earth it looks like there is a path that goes almost all the way to the ledges from mapelane chalets.

Please let me know as we would love to give the ledges a go again.

Thanks and tight lines

Eli, myself and my boet were there last year.In 5 days we didnt see 1 ed come out, not even shad in the bay area.

We fish mainy for eds and absolutely nothing. We tried live and dead mullet which is normally deadly, plus all the other normal baits. I wanted to try hand grenades eventually out of sheer frustration.

On a brighter note there were quite a few ineds around. Some big skates and a raggies were around but you had to graft for them. We were sliding whole chokka. We were fishing left of the camp sites.

My son also caught a beauty 1.5 kg perch in the estuary

Those ledges were the business back in the day when you could still 4 x 4 there. We klapped the pompano there. 8k walk to get there though. Best is to ask one of the wardens for the best route.

Kob, grunter, garrick are like hens teeth. Reckon that river mouth needs to open again

With 400-600mm rain forecast for this weekend, reckon the mouth will be open, + lots of debris on the beach

Remember, you can buy a permit to drive on the beach. Its valid for 3hours before till 3hours after low tide. Its R250 if I recall
