Maguga Dam - End of Jan

Hi All,

My first time posting on here but have been on the site for quite a while. I am from Cape Town but planning a trip to Maguga Dam in Swaziland 27 - 30 Jan. I have heard that the dam is only 42% full at the moment. I realise that there could be rain by then but is it worth it making the trip out there if the dam is low? We will have a boat, so no bank angling. Will the fishing be good or will I be wasting my time?

Thanks in advance for any advise :)

we had alot of success on magnum flukes in watermelon red, watermelon seed and baby bass, particularly under the bridge and the island close to the dam wall.we fished them weightless with a twitch,die,twitch....then spinnerbaits in chartreuse and white with colorado blades....some of my friends also fished the Ol'Monster in junebug with a quarter ounce bullet weight.late afternoon we found zarra spooks in bullfrog and white did well.they are explosive on topwater so tag your gopro along if you do have one...goodluck and tight lines
