MAG-IT MAGNETIC CAST CONTROL SYSTEM TORIUM 14

Cuban Cigar

Despite the fact that most people, consider the little Torium 14, to be a great and easy casting reel, with it's 6 way centrifugal cast control, more and more anglers who had the MAG-IT system fitted to their larger reels, started asking about a kit for the baby brother.

Below are a few pics !

Solid little reel and a favourite of many hardcore light tackle anglers !

Final test casting is underway, to have the best magnet selection and positioning, for a wide and practical range of adjustibility !

Will be casting from 2.5oz all the way to 5oz for the different applications !

Will let you know when final setup is determined !

Cheers

Hi Cuban, you know that I am one of the guys who think the Trini and Torium 14's are easy to cast and control........I am going to be waiting for your casting results in anticipation.....the brake blocks work.....but interested to see whether Mag-it versus blocks gets more distance? Now that we are looking at the 14's....What are your feeling about Mag-it on the SL20?......seeing that you love your SL20..........

Hi Surfboy !

Your timing could barely have been better, to ask the question about the sl20/30sh !

I'm expecting the magnetic stainless magplates and the aluminium conductive spool discs for these two reels, to arrive here today, via courier, from the engineering shop that does all my cnc laser cutting !

I will then probably take the pics tonight and post on the topic.

My prototype performed really well on both models and have the added advantage of full adjustibility, when compared with the break block options - it is also dead quiet, with none of the high rpm "rubbing" of the blocks inside the centrifugal ring.

Watch this space after my test casting with 2-5 oz on these lovely little reels with their light weigh synthetic spools !

Cheers !

CC

Do you remove the CC unit?
Hi Psy !
Yes, the space is very limited in there and I just slide out the plastic unit, to make space for the magplate and magnets.

You just have to very carefully press out the spool pin, slide of the RH spool bearing and then slide off the cntrfg unit.

Unconfirmed rumours have it, that the old Torium range might not be available for much longer, so if you were thinking about getting the little "14", make your move and don't miss out !

It is currently unclear, if the new Torium HG range, will eventually include a size 14HG ???

You have done my 2 x X30SHA's because they were scary fast and I am now loading some Sufix 832 to test. Now I'm considering the Trini 14 and the 2 x Torium 14's. As I expected.....Mag-it will get me away from blocks rubbing on the ring and also less noise.......but mainly interested in the distance results on your casting trials.

Will let you know, when test casting, maybe you can even join me, depending on timing ?
