I mean serious speed...by the time I put the canera down and started cranking the other lines in this is what the spool looked like...

Eventually we turn and chase and get most of the line back, but for an hour the fish takes 4 miles out well into the wind line. At the hour mark she starts to change position and doing all sorts of things down deep and suddenly comes undone...hook pulls out.

The way she was swinging at the lure on the bite not suprised she was just on the bill and eventually come out....nose job!!!

Madeira is all about Giant Blue Marlin and some Big Tuna, but we found the some floatsome with some dorado underneath and out come two small lures on 20 pound gear and in no time we had a double header...

Our next charter, Chris Parker is a great bloke from the UK, who lives and fished down in Port Gentil – Gabon and is keen as mustard. First day was overcast and quiet windy and choppy by Madeira standards. Despite all the good signs of whales, dolphins and bait on the grounds, especially in front of town we never saw a fish the whole day. Two small one´s (again by Madeira standards - 450 and 600 lbs) were released down in front of Calheta.

The second day was a complete opposite than the previous with flat calm seas & loads of sunshine:SSS.
All was calm until just after lunch when a big fish materialized on the left short, knock it, took 20 yards and disappeared. It took a long minute or so for it to reappear, this time on the right short, big take runs then stops and trashes the whole surface…

Chris jumped in the chair for the first ever time. Although he has caught a good number of small Blues on stand up #50 back home, this was his first ever time on a chair with the #130…

But he took to it like he had done it a hundred times before. Unfortunetly the fish never jumped...we had some close calls when she would just do this crazy head shakes just under the surface but never did she come out once...

We got to leader her just after the hour mark and at that time she come undone...unfortunetly without a single pic....but still we were all smiling and the estimated 850 lbs blue went down as Chris biggest ever...

Thanks Tivo, Chris got another fish around 650 that went apeshit by the boat and got some bruises and comatoasted marks on the crew a day later. Really crazy fish that, unlike most blues went total wacked by the boat and snooter.... I have just left the island and that season is over for me...got to wait for a loooong month before starting up in my favourite honey hole for the blacks...BAZARUTO...here we come!!! Anyway, back in lisbon and on my way to the Algarve tomorrow, some good fish there over the last couple weeks and a boat released 3 over 600 a few days ago.... anyway, talking over the phone with peter this morning and out of the blue his screaming....short right....short right!!!! Jiiiii, I had my blood pumping and not even in the boat. Obviously the call come to a stop....minutes later he phoned me and said the fish come into it about 8 times but never hooked up... Fun & games in the big ocean....

Really good one as well, looking to top 900....
