I'm pretty much looking for a simple way of managing and storing the data on my GPS as well as planning my fishing trips with the help of my GPS chart. To be honest the 5" screen of my GPS is a bit of a pain to do this sort of work.
I've looked at a number of various products on the net (Easy GPS, EliteGPS and NavPlanner 6 included) but have noticed that none state that they are specifically compatible with the Lowrance Elite 5.
I find this rather strange. I obviously don't want to purchase a product that is going to have compatibility issues.

Planning your route on the Elite5 is quite quick and painless for local fishing expeditions. If you are however planning a major trip to the islands or Madagascar for example, you are going to need a Navplanner, and possibly a bigger chart plotter.
As for waypoint management directly for the Elite5, I find www.gpstm.com to work great - it is FREE.

Sorry to highjack ,Fishton what program do i need to save all my waypoints from my hds 7 onto my laptop

Nothing George, just an SD card and remember to export 2 copies from the HDS, one as version 4 and one as version 2.
If you want to manage these waypoints you can either use the free gpstm as stated in previous post, or you can manage version 4 with DrDepth, but costs around R1500 - but it is soooo much more than just a waypoint manager!
