Hi

I have 2 combo units, the one HDS 5 and the other is LMS-527c DF igps,

Witch of the 2 is the best?

Can I use both?

Personally, I would use both. Use the LMS as a GPS and use the HDS 5 as a stand alone Sounder.

I prefer the LMS as a GPS but the HDS5 is an incredible Sounder.

Hi Bennie,

I was also thinking of doing that, but what i love about the HDS 5 is when driving and you see a nice pinnicle you can go back with the cursor and mark it with a waypoint.

Now I am going to through a rock in the bush, Is there a way to say have the HDS 5 and link another unit (or just a screen) to hds 5 and use it as you would with the split screen option? So you would say use sounder on unit and gps on extra screen but they both use one units brain?

Or is it just easyer to put both seperate?

I'm sure you could connect the 2 units. Give John Minnie a call at Lorance. My 2 units are connected so if I mark a waypoint on the sounder, it comes up on the GPS too.

sure you can link them with an ethernet cable. you can have both running that way.

After a long delay i have recieved my ethernet cable, is there settings that you should i should change or should the units automaticly communicate?

It is simple, The cable can only fit in a specific plug. Then make sure the communication port is turned on.

Hi Bennie,

they are pluged in correct ports, but still dont communicate, do you perhaps know what communication port settings must be.

My boat is a Z-Craft. I'll check the settings when I get it back tomorrow (hopefully)!
