Hi I'm new to kurper fishing and I will be taking part in the 2010 loskop kurper bonansa soon. Are there any pros out there willing to share there kurper catching secrets with me.

There are no Secrets when it comes to Kurper Fishing , it is easy as 1-2-3.              You just need to get the float at the right boayancy and good bait.                         You can also adjust the depth of your bait by using a Gummy stop. Also look for a good area to fish ( Neer trees and rocks )

Was there last weekend and cought a nice 2.5kg just before the comp, I'm also going to the kurper bonanza to try my luck.

P.s. Dont forget your sun screen as its hot as hell on the dam.

Thanx man! I've heard neer the inlet is a good spot but im on a kayak and I don't think I will beat the boats there. Do you have any more secretive spots that you don't maind sharing with me? You can pm me if you dont want any else to know about them

Hi

I also going to the Kurper Bonanza to see if i can get lucky and take a prize. 

The guys say Rierbaai and ou Toilet are good spots

If your on kayak then your best bet will be to go across from the resort to almost inline with the dam wall, there are littel in and out lets there with reed beds. Try and see if you can get to one of these spots quickely becuase thy are hot spots, if not go left from the lodg to the old quary site next to marulanie there are also a few spots you can try, but  i did not get huge results there.

The main thing is to pick a spot and stay there becuese if your moving around alot you are reducing your chanches. Alot of guys move to a spot and 30 minutes later thy move to another spot.

Last weekend I only managed to cathe 3 kurper, but 2 of them was over 2kg and 1 was 2.5kg. some of the other boats moved around and caught only small or nothing at all. Even the winning boat stuck to one spot and managed to get a huge kurper with a bunch of small ones.

So my advice is if the kurper arent byting that dosent meen that thy arent there. Its the biggest kurper that wins not the bag with a bunch of small fish in it.

What bait's were working last week.

I have been feeding my earthworms paw paw for the last 2 months. I was told this works well in Loskop? The big kurpers like them.

I only used worms that you get from tackel shops , but try and use more than one type of bait as this will only increase your chanches. I know i will be doing so.

The most guys are going to he cable at the inlet, but with 300 boats trying to get a spot there it will only be a nightmare. The winning boat of last weekend was close to Reirsbaai, but the guy was a vetaren to kurper fishing so he hase a lot more experians than me.

I see the guys in town are all ready starting to get ready for the comp. Luckely I gave up on winning now its just for the fun of it and if I win then good for me and if not then to bad. At least I got a good tan.

This weekend I must also start getting my ducks in a row.

 

Must admit starting to dream about big kurpers Cant wait. It is going to be a long week.

Pack boat and get all the tackle ready Come Friday morning 6 o clock leaving for Loskop
