Loomis Platinium looks good and excellent value for money. A friend of mine bought the 9ft heavy and his first fish on it was a 9kg Kob on a paddle tail off of the rocks. Now if it brought me the same luck I'd buy 1 a week LOL.

Hi Guys,

The Exceller is a great rod...BUT. the guides does give up after a while in salt water.

Buying a R900 rod with plastic guides, is not the best.

I have 2 Loomis Platinums 9 - Heavy and 9 Ext Heavy, the rod is excellent all round. At R450 each...can't complain.

My personal choice go for the Loomis.

Even with the 'plastic' guides my 902 doesn't show wear. Used fireline and braid without any problems in surf fishing for 2 years and now fresh water use. Still remains my favourite rod.
