I counted the number of turns on the coils etc and now have to wait to get some wire;)

I'm a bit pissed that I broke the CDI charging coil wire as its gonna be a PITA to rewind as the wire is 0.20mm thick so will take 100's of meters to get the desired resistance.
The charging coils are piss as there are only 136 turns of 0.8mm wire
The firing pickup was carefully removed from the housings and is still 100% in spec.

I also left some of the original yellow wires on as to get it all wired up correctly ;)
The stator windings will be varnished when done, the new ones dont have the Epoxy coating so I really dont think this will be an issue.
Total cost to rewind will be under R700.
of course I could send it in and pay a little bit more but where is the fun in that.

So have ordered my Wire for the Stator rewind;)
hoping to get some time this weekend to wind around 450m onto the CDI Charge coil to get 450 ohms resistance. need to hide away from distractions.
the wire is cheap cheap :)
Still have some Varnish left over from my other rewind jobs so that saves another R200

Howzit Guys so its been a while with no real progress on the boat,
I have made peace with the fact it will only be done by December this year :?
Anyways I got the Copper Wire last week and spend a good few hours winding the coils as best as I could, bearing in mind that a hand wound coil is at least 10 to 20 % larger to get the same amount of turns.
however clearance under the flywheel looks fine and now I cannot find my Varnish..... typical

the kak job was the CDI charge coil it needed at least 4000 turns and this takes one hell of a long time, the Service manual says it should have a resistance of between 400 to 450 ohms I turned around 450m of wire onto that coil and got a resistance of 427 ohms so I rekon I'm good to go.
I will have to get some more Varnish and seal the coils in place, I will dip the whole Stator for a few days so it soaks into the coils nicely.
I will probably only get round to doing this later next month as we are moving house at the end of the Month.
Let me tell you finding a house with a garage to park a 5.5 boat and trailer is not a simple task:shock:

Hello Guys, well this has been an interesting few months, Winter is here and the boat has taken a back seat for a while, I'm planning a bike trip in a few months so finances are being diverted to that.
I have however varnished the Stator and fitted everything back together.
Outboard starts and runs fine in a drum so I'm pretty confident that my stator rewind was successful as I get around 17V on the battery at 4500 RPM

Will carry on with the Boat in a few months as bike accessories are more expensive than little boat parts.

Howzit Guys well winter has now passed and its time to spend some time on the boat again.
This month I will finish all the small trimmings, I have to source 2 fuel pumps as the plates on mine are rusted and I cannot trust them to seal correctly.
I think I'm gonna convert them to electric pumps like my other outboard.
Also need to source new orings for the fuel couplings as mine are rock hard.
