I really hope that this lockdown will revive sealine.
I suspect that more people will log in and browse than in the recent past. Why not share some ideas, wishlists for the fishing once the lockdown ends next.
I am really looking forward to get a PB Galjoen this season, i think there should be loads of sandaas on the beaches once we can go visits them again.
So guys, help me out. Were can i go hunt for a PB (i only need to beat 40cm) areas i can fish(no 4X4 but willing to walk up to 1 hour) will be die dam to betty's bay (Possibly Struis)

Worm is very hard to find(i almost always fish alone), so rooies and white mussel will be baits mainly used.

i amleaning towards this area below...(from Die Dam resort east towards Brandfontein)

Has anybody fished for galjoen here before?

Gallies are resident, but also the terrain must suit them..They are also slow growing and most ous keep the big ones they catch so basically if you want bigger ones you need to go to the spots that ous are not prepared to name or the spots that no one knows of and no could post about if they wanted to..or areas that hold lots of fish irrespective of pressure but for the most part most of it is completely inaccessible.

I've gotten the 60cm class ones both fishing on either side outside of MPA's, releasing them of course and also in areas that have relatively heavy pressure but are renowned as good gallie spots and most of the reef one cannot get to. So areas that really suit the gallies will hold good stocks, even if reasonably heavy pressure, if the areas of habitat and reef hold lots of food and is for the most part inaccessible but with areas that people can fish from.. Other areas that used to be good spots but fished out, i have had not much luck but others will still go in winter and catch their fish. The one area where I got a 60cm class fish looked right, but I tried for 2 or more years without success there until one calm warm day in summer where I did not expect a fish like that it jumped on me hook on the only puff of foam there was at the spot, he was hiding. Got a nice rockcod out the same puff of foam. That MPA though has far less stock than say dehoop though, as the terrain does not suit them and the reefs are too deep for the most part.
Pity in the old days the waves along the rocks in any given bay would be black with galjoen darting in for food apparently. They used to be trekked by the ton to vleck, salt and store to feed farm labourers all along the west coast and south cape. Maybe one day it wont matter where you go fish for them again..

Hi Bloks
I have caught galjoen up to 45cm just to the left of the parking at Die Damme. Look for areas with working water over reefs.

Ive also caught galjoen on strong seas to the left of Steenbras klip. And been reefed by some real asshole fish there.

If the waters cold and clean Wondies work the best, can be dug at die damme caravan park. Otherwise those big redbait pods that wash out there work really well. Especially when they are vrot.

Otherwise Bloodworm can be taken out with a wire on the beach. Then a steenie, kob or belman could be on the cards.

ek het nie geweet mens kan wurm daar grawe nie, sal n dag daarvan moet maak om te gaan aas maak.

hoop julle ouens is akay gedurende die moeilike tye(bliksem ouens, ons sien hierdie lockdown str0nt net in die movies)

Steenbras klip is seker so 800m se stap na links, waar jou eerste rooi merke sit op die kaart.

Grawe in die regterkantste hoek waar die mense swem.
Hiers dit maar stil. Dorpie wat op toerisme en visvang gebou is, is nou 'n spookdorp.

Dankie vir die tips.

Dis erg ou, ek kry die manne/vroue wat vir hulself werk wat nou moes toe maak so jammer. Ons moet mekaar help waar ons kan wanneer alles normaliseer. Alleen gaan dit maar moeilik wees.

so, ons het kom lockdown doen in Plett, my restaurant moes ongelukkig ook toe maak so ons gedink dit sal beter wees om eerder hier by my vrou se familiehuis te kom uithang, die reels is natuurlik dat ons nie mag uitgaan nie maar die huis is reg op die Keurbooms, die lagoon is net oorkant die pad in die Poortjies, ek besluit toe gisteraand na 24h00 dat ek oor die pad gaan sluip en n gooi maak, weet totally dis die verkeerde ding om te doen maar doen dit anyway, dit is soos n lykhuis hier, geen mense, geen karre, geen niks, ek loop toe oor die pad en voor ek nog my sak kon oopmaak om my aas uit te haal stop twee karre met spotlights, ek loop toe maar na hulle en erken my skuld, hulle was so nice, verstaan my pyn, een ou noem toe nog dat hy ook hengel, ek vra toe vir hulle hoe de hel het hulle geweet ek was daar, hulle se daar is kameras orals, 5 minute na ek die huis verlaat het, is ek terug in die huis. dis natturlik die einde van my naghengeldroom.
