LOCALLY MANUFACTURED soft "plastics"

Hi DM,

I don't litter when I go fishing. I even have a dive mask in my gear that gets used quite often, even in the fresh water, LURES ARE EXPENSIVE LOL, and you can't just leave them behind, I also smoke, but have the presence of mind to take a empty can with me when I go fishing, from the rocks or off the boat to put my butts in and chuck it after I'm done, I try not to leave ANYTHING behind.

The way I see this is that Neil told us about the new product on the shelf and it being cheaper and in his opinion just as good for catching fish............I ask you does that now make him an expert on the biodegradability of the product, I think not, does that now make him an expert on the product itself, I think not.

Van you attitude stinks, I hope I never have to buy another berkley product again, and right now I don't care if your competing product is not biodegradable, hell I will just eat the fish I catch, then it doesn't matter. And me not buying your product, maybe will not hurt berkley, but I will make sure that every person I speak to knows how great the alternatives are.

Neil, thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Streak, ::respekt: to you, you are obviously much more of business man than what old van will ever be.

Thought we were going to leave it there but seeings you persist:

NeilG certainly acts and advises as if he's an "expert", thats why and how he dug out the cheap plastics, presented them as good alternative to more expensive ones, but then by members accounts and what they actualy found in the stores, - they turned out not to be so cheap after all!

Every post on dropshotting and related products these days is virtualy some sort of dig and attack by a very specific group of people, who deserve to fish with the cheap alternatives they so enthusiastically try and promote as alternatives.  The matter and question about bio-degradeability is very relevent and pertinent, because the very nature of the make-up of the other more expensive soft baits, is exactly their secret.

Get on with your lives, get over yourself, apart from those "el-cheapo's" there are many many other cheap baits and cheap braids and people will always buy them.

But please stop behaving like a bunch of high school girls. Read Neil's rant again, it actualy makes for a good laugh if it wasnt so sad.

"but I will make sure that every person I speak to knows how great the alternatives are"

So how great are the alternatives? - by all accounts Neil hasnt tested them yet., except to acknowledge that they tend to split when rigging them.

You are something else, man!

Hello LJ,

thought I will get a response from you, funny every post you have done here on sealine you have been gunning on moaning about something. Maybe you have had a very unhappy childhood..........:doh

On Sealine we share information, Neil told us about the product gave us his view, what is that now law, come on man get real. we share opinions, we are individuals and every man here can make up his own mind, Neil never said that this is the product to replace everything else.

Reefman asked a question, you and van then jumped on the wagon, I asked you did Neil ever proclaim to be a soft plastic expert, no he merely told us about this product he saw on the shelfs.

I was the one who went to Mias and saw that AT MIAS it wasn't that much cheaper, now how the hell can you hold that against Neil.

Neil has done a lot for Sealine, Neil has the respect most of the Sealine members, can't say they same about you, are you jealous............please go find yourself another forum or stop causing shit.

Hi Skrops,

Please don't take this the wrong why now.

Here you have broken more than one of Sealine rules, Please, please, please, for the sake of peace, let rather talk about fishing.

Thought you were going to respond and have more or less-, about that, to say.

You see, very simple - as long as you and your merry little band want to shoot your mouths off - I have the right to respond, and if you make public statements and make expert opinions, you have to back them up.

Who is he to tell others that he does not know, what they know and experience they have, with fishing.

Read Neils post again - I think its scandalous! and you being his echo and hooter, is quite funny.

My invitation stands, drop your attitude, grow up - get a life, and go fish more often.

I had a lovely childhood thank you, and still enjoying life and my fishing.  As for joining another forum, sorry - you leave, I am quite happy here and enjoying this one - learning from a lot of people. I might be old but never too old to learn.

Heihachi, I agree fully..... but, I owe Van an apology. Van, LJ is not as bad as you. He is a much bigger chop. Although you have not told us anything new yet, I have noted the change in your attitude. On the other hand, LJ has not even attempted to give any useful advice and is constantly on the defensive, passing scathing comments when nobody made even made reference to him. I expect more from someone who has been fishing for longer than I have been alive! On the other hand, the spirit with which Neil delivers his advice and comments is friendly and helpful....the spirit of Sealine. Share some of your 40 years of experience with us, even in the stories section but enough of this Berkeley backing bull. We all know it is a great product, but nobody seems to be willing to drop the price and people are starting to look for cheaper alternatives. They come to Sealine to find out what works and what doesn't. Every time anyone suggests trying something else, you guys are on their case. It is infuriating! You guys would be far more welcome if you would ease off on the constant, aggressive punting of your product. This is not a free advertisement site!

Dingleberry, we each in our own different way punt our preferences and choices on the forum.

Please dont think I only believe in and support Abu and Berkley, because I dont. There are other very good competative brands available, and what's good in one discipline of our sport, may not be the best in another.

I bought four Penn 850 SSM's spinning reels last week, one for each in our family.

It is my humble opinion that although not so sophisticated, fancy, and shiny as others, it is a tough durable reel, without any plastic.  With 20lbs Fireline on it I think it it will provide endles service and fun casting lures and spoons in the surf.

Have a wide variety of everyting, up to and including bassing and flyfishing. Bet in this short time you have never heard (seen) me talk bad about or critisize any other brand.

Van, is it the Abu 704lx that Adam & Earl use in the DVD? I requested a schematic diagram from Abu and they promptly emailed it and I'm very!!! impressed with the design. What would be a reasonable 8' medium heavy rod to pair it with? I want to cast up to 1oz and will target Garrick & Kob Off of the Rocks. I got a 7kg Garrick at Mazeppa on a Chissel popper a 12' rod and 30H and it was an awesome fight!! But now I want to go back with this tackle!!

i've paired mine up with an 8ft excelor.. i tried with both spoon and plastics and the balance seemed just right to me...

Hi,

No please don't lock this thread, I know it's gone a little off topic, but please I'm sure we can get it back on track!

I for one wont use it if its not biodegradble. Yes there are lead in our sinkers, fish dont eat it, its in billions of kilo litres of water. If I feed something to a fish that goes through its internals, i want it to be degradable.

Van, what up bru? Why do you and your sidekick(LJ) have to give Nielg so much cr@p about a product he saw on the shelve, asking him for his expert opinion if the product is biodegradable. I would ask someone in a lab for a expert opinion on biodegradale issue, not a EXPERT FISHERMAN. Behave bru, behave.

Hi Fluke,

The guys in the DVD used different models, from 700 and 800 ranges.

I would suggest putting a Cardinal 704 LX on a Berkley Air 8ft 6in MH add some 10 or 12lb Fire line, with fluorocarbon leader of the same or a little thicker, remember to double over your Fire line when you knot it together with your leader, so that it is thicker in the knot.

Tied to any good hook and sent to the bottom of the sea, with your favorite Softy should produce some awesome fishing.

You see, the trick to dropshoting isn't just the jig and the bait, it's the rod too, and the reel and the line.

The rod is designed to give you a good long cast, if you need it, it also gives you the right action on your lure, which is very important! Then, it has to fight the fish as well, and these rods fight nice!

The line gives more than just one benefit as well, Flouro as I'm sure you know is almost invisible in water, it also has less stretch than mono and is harder too, better abrasion resistance. Fire line also has no stretch and that too, is important as it relates to the action from the rod to the lure, as well as bite detection and sensitivity, then the Fire line is also highly abrasion resistant and that benefit speaks for it's self, then there is the thickness, It's so thin.

The reel must be a good one, front drag and a good capacity, with a instant anti reverse and a fairly quick gear ratio, like the C 704 LX, or any reel in that class.

Know, I don't really want to talk about soft baits and jigs, but on one of the threads I said that it's a system, and that is pure Dropshot.

Happy hunting!
