Go to the Ushaka area. Mozzies are normally active there at night. It is not a common occurance to get macks from the shore. The new piers were great for this. North pier is also a good bet. The trick is to fish as light as possible for them no 6 hook is perfect. From north pier almost a drift type bait is presented. Use a three way swivel. Two hook traces, the one longer than the other, the third eye, hole of the swivel is where you will tie the line from the rod. The trace must not sink fast , it must hover down slowly. Warning.....you will be suprised how fast the pull is from these little bait fish. From the beach use a light sinker as possible, christmas tree type trace. You sometimes foul hook mozzies using a normal Shad trace. Practice these methods and fish these places and you will get what you need.
