Hey,

My buds and I fished on Sat night at Tinley Manor High Rocks. One of my buds slid out a live Blacktail and a fish picked up the bait.He was on with the fish for about 15 mins but lost it seconds before landing. The hook jus shoot out cos he forced the fish[rocky area].The Blacktail was still alive and had not bite marks on it.i would like to know if anyone had a similar experience?I would also like to know what fish and size this could possibly be?

P.S The sea was 100's on sat night and the fish was on the bite the entire night and the early hours of the morning.Anyone agrees?

I have had the same thing happen with a Garrick (Leerie) before. Also had it on for a good 10 minutes before dropping it, and the livie was still alive. I have heard of Kob doing the same thing....

yip i caught a 20cm blacktail on a small rod in gouritz... was standing with at the big rods about 50 yards off at night. When i got to the small rods again the one was lying down, when i pulled up the blacktail was on the hook, and you could see the marks of where the kob had grabbed it and then let it go again.....

Had a similiar experiance. Land'd a garrick of THE BLOCK with a live black tail. For some reason the black tails fins got jammed in the garricks throat. No hooks set at all. Jst the fins firmly wedged. Your fish could of been a kob. They tend to regurgutate the bait.
