I am also an avid light tackle boat angler. What breaking strain would you use on your rig ? I am thinking that should you have say hook a 15 KG Cob you could be burnt off . Also would you use your rig in shallow water say under 3m.

line betwwen two swivels can be quite heavy even 10kg prevents sliding swivel "burning "through ,use in any depth water

then mullet can only swim down, or if you cut bottem it can only swim up. not sure if it is this way round but that is the theory.

I believe the top of the tail fin is used to swim down.

A few questions if anyone one could answer.

  • When targeting cob from a boat with a live mullet should one use one or two hooks ?They say a cob goes for the tail. [/*]
  • Also does the live mullet face the current or away from rod . I have also been told that if you hook a live mullet through the mouth it will drown ? [/*]
  • Does a mullet stay at the bottom to hide from the predators or is it best not to use a sinker?[/*]
