I phoned KZN Wildlife and they confirm it is illegal to use live Vertebrates as live bait.
The full gazette'd ordinance and subsequent amendments are over 200 pages to sift through hence the referral to the original post.
O well. Now wheres the fun then if you carnt use a live plattieSpecifically includes Platties, shops may not sell them live in fact may not hold them to sell.
Fishing any part of Platties in Competitive angling results in immediate qualification.
That is why it is qualified as Vertabrates. Earthworms are not a vertebrate and don't fall under the same classification for purposes of the ordinance but birds, fish, frogs etc are classed as live bait. Dead is no problem and no not dead by drowning.
