liscence fees

good news regarding the fees::S

heres an e mail from underwater africa

it seems spearfishing liscences are to be R 87, but i,m not sure what he meant where he says its R 100 more than angling liscences.

Hi all

The Government Gazette Notice number 33518 was published on 10 September
2010 detailling the new recreational fishing fees.

Its great news on the one hand - the resistance against this from fishermen
and divers alike was an awesome effort. Two issues which is immediately
apparent to me is that there is no application fee specified for a scuba
diving permit and I'd love to know the reason why a spearfishing permit
costs R 100.00 more than an angling permit!?

Whether you are in favour of or opposed to spearfishing you have to ask
yourself what motivates seemingly arbitrary increase. If they can do it to
spearos they can do it to anybody else.

Permit application fee for recreational fishing is gazetted as R 7.00 vs the
R 30.00 which was proposed.

The permit for scuba diving in MPAs remains unchanged from the draft to the
gazetted amount at R 85.00

Other permit fees's gazetted price as opposed to the permit price in the
draft regulations.

West Coast Rock Lobster R 87.00 vs R 500.00 East Coast Rock Lobster R87.00
vs R 500.00 Additional fee per vessel R 87.00 vs R 500.00 Angling R 69.00 vs
R 200.00 Spearfishing R 87.00 vs R 300.00
