Hi,

Our local tackle store has Linx High Carbon Hooks and the price is quite reasonable. R23 for 8 size 10/0 and R12 for 10 size 9. They look like good quality and sharp as hell. Made in Japan. Anybody used them, any critisism??? Thanks.

I had a pack of linx 3/0 and enjoyed them. Thin and sharp. I used them off the boat to catch hottentot. I haven't been lucky enough to test them against bigger fish to see just how strong they are but smaller fish, no problem.

Not sure if I am going to go for sharky's. But I got some old hooks my dad used to use. Nothing wrong with them, not rusted at all and sharp too. Think they are coated with a brass like coating. Will use them for sharks if I decide to go that way. These other hooks look really good, not like some of the cheap stuff you get. Thanks, Will get some more of them as they are quite affordable.

I landed a 25kg raggie pup this past on a 6/0 Linx baited with some red eye targeting blue rays!
Bud,no offence to your catch, but thats like pulling a Checkers packet...They are fine for certain edibles, thats about it.I've seen my dad open a 6/0 on a big Kob.You never know whats going to pick your bait up,never chance having any weak points in your tackle.

I agree with you about having weak points, only posted to point out the fact that this hook punches above its weigt class! I too would never target big non-edibles with it!

Nems is right . sort of ...! Lol
the Linx hooks Are certainly not first choice for sharks . two popular sizes available , eds being 6/0 , Even the 8/0 . i wouldn't throw for non-eds with the 6/0's , as he says i reckon that's looking for trouble .

Those 8/0's are really not bad, and , As stated above elswhere , mense, these things are sharp as Shoot .
i also like their shape , and being so sharp , anything Even remotely trying to pull in for a sly eating session is going to land up On the sharper end of the hook .
I used to use them for skelm hooks , but have found them strong enoughb for anything up to around 60 kg easy .
The thing with shark hooks is that due to them needing to pull more weight , Are generally thicker , whereas these things would jusst qualify , are thinnner, and yet i feel they are strong Enough for a good fish .
someone needs to just remind me if they come in a "light "ad a heavy version , think they do , in which case the thicker one is really not too bad .
havént lost a fish yet on One , so i guess you can call Me an optomist for now , but really these hooks Aren't as bad at all .

4 trips down Though , and ,on the thinner 06 sizes - uh uh -no way for big eds , although i did Manage my Pb On it , ...Lets hope it Pulls one for Meon saturday ...

Cheap , sharp .

and use 4 times only . other than that , you're good to go .

I have a few 10/0 linx hooks left. They are much thicker in relation to their smaller brothers and I would feel confident pulling something decent with them. Still thinner gauge than some more "recognized" shark hooks, but definitely worth a try.

Here's a experienced 10/0 linx (on left) and a 8/0 bandit 2x

The Linx also comes in 2x, which seem decent enough. I would also just use them for eds, but I did once hook into a big threasher on the mountain with the 8/0 Linx after a few hard runs and an aerial display of note it popped my bite trace but the hook held fine although my nerves didn't.

hi guys

used the linx to catch cob from the boat, not bad at all,

I have noted many hooks are reasonably strong if they are set correctly into the gape of the hook, but if only the point is in the fish mouth then hooks tend to open. this is where hooks like diachis ect stand up to the challange..

Have been using these for a while now and myself have not landed a massive fish on it, but others have, but for strenght and price you will never beat it...
