line for baitcaster

Hi guys...

I will be changing from a baitcaster to a grinder on my carp dipping rod, allowing me to put the baitcaster on a suitable rod I have. I will use it for trolling deep divers and maybe a bit of casting if I feel so inclined. What line would you recommend? I was thinking of a hard mono around 12lb, fluorocarbon ideally but hard to justify the price when the lure is deep.

Basically want your advice on a good quality clear mono, something that casts decently.

Ive tried perlon bass 12lb but it was absolute rubbish.

P.s. I have finesse rigs, this will be my robust rig that may have to handle a barbel or two as well

For mono I prefer Berkley Big game. It has a bit more stretch than fluoro and will absorb some of the shock when fishing cranks to prevent the hooks from being pulled on a sudden surge.

For deep diving a lot of the experts actually recommend fluoro as it absorbs less water which allows the deep diving cranks to get more depth.

For shallow divers and top water application mono might be more suited.

I fish mainly with Seaguar InvizX but it can be a tad expensive depending on where you buy. Generally with 10 and 12 lb.

It is good quality and relatively soft allowing one to make descent knots.
