Had a reasonable day jigging yesterday, reefed by 2 bigger Doggies and another freaking silver Zets Smelt Dax gone....the Doggies really love that jig.











These Crony rods are really cool for light jigging...

Hey TW, they have a deep pink, which almost looks purple.....will go well with his locks :)

Just received a resupply of Smelts, 20g, 30g, 40g and 60g.

Have you guys tried light jigging in CT, i find that it is super effective compared to the heavy jigging stuff?

Yes works great as long as the snoek are not around. Worked really well at Struisbaai for tail and reef fish I must def try the lighter Smelts only tried the 60g. There are a few brands of light jigs available but I recon most guys don't know how to fish them or don't have the tackle ,they are casting them instead of jigging them .Am planning to sell off some of my heavier jigging outfits to replace with lighter spin set ups .

Like TW says, the light jigging gets expensive QUICKLY if the bastard Snoek are around!

I have hardly had any fishing time locally inshore, as work and flyfishing for carp and the odd grunter have dominated what time I do have, but have always loved the light jigging game... had an absolute blast in Oman on the juvenile Ambers to around the 8 kilo mark on the silly string and light set ups, and did well on the Tail a few seasons back on the outside of Rocky bank when they had disappeared from the surface bite and we were having no joy spinning for them...

I've found that light jigging has almost replaced my "soft plastic/drop shot" for offshore work... while the jigs are expensive initially, they outlast the packets and packets and packets of plastics one goes through on reefies...

`And of course the tackle that goes along with it is so damn pretty and funny to use... those little CRONY whips look wicked... TW's right, a purple one would be just right for me!

Have a look at the storm GOMOKU rods for light jigging fairly cheap and a great rod, and any decent little reel will do I use a Sustain 2500.

They sure look great but Rapala VMC do the storm lures in SA so you got no chance of them ever bringing these rods into the country we would have to import them from overseas .

Hey Neps, ya those Aj's in Southern Oman are chaotic, many times i had two on the deck at a time.



Cam, the Gomoku Erito Bespoke is an awesome looking rod.
