Life jacket Regulations

Hi Guys,

according to this new notice no 7 on www.samsa.org.za  Buoyancy aids are not safe for more than 1nm! only level 100 jackets.

These have not been cast in stone so I think you jetski guys should voice your opionion before the sh1t its the fan!!

Cant imagine going on a jet ski with a Orange Type life jacket on all Bloody day!!!

Well I am not sure whats going on but as far as I can tell the latest marine notice is all bollocks!! So lets just see what happens!!

Please keep us posted. They keep on changing the requirements. A whole buch of guys have new life jackets of which none are legal. And like you say, something must be practical to use or what's the sense.

Any news on this?? I am also not in the mood to wear one of the box type jackets. I would like a 100N life Jacket, are there any available in the style that we are accustomed to, ie a vest type?

Howzit Guys!

Ok here is a basic run down of what i understand!

1) All new jackets must be SAMSA and NRCS approved

2) Older jackets are ok if they in good condition.

3) Cat B must have 150n jackets

4) cat D must have life jackets not ski vests

and just to blow my own horn a bit,

Our auto jacket is the only 150n jacket approved in SA by SAMSA and NRCS we have them in red and blue! info@aquaacademy.co.za or buy from Lowrance SA, ganis, fishtec, aqua academy, fishing.co.za, fish eagle, sport fisher.

You see I think this is wrong. How can they say you can only use a certain lifejacket if they can't provide it to you.

Sorry Lemon but R 1400 is a bit rich for my blood and I need 5 of them. Not going to happen.

I agree! and am sure you will get a rigid jacket that is 150n soon! Our jackets are expensive and so is a Rolls Royce! By this I mean our jackets are top of the range! if you dont wear a jacket all the time then its not for you, if you do then its the solution!
