Left handed-ness...

I would like to know how many people out there cast with their right hand and then swop over and reel in with their right hand...

I can retirieve with either hand but for accuracy and distance I need to cast with my dominant hand (Right hand in my case).
I use LEfty reels where I can and were I can't I have to Swop but prefer left hand retrieve reels.
It also helps you get quicker on the retirieve - only guys who have spun for SPortfish (Tigerfish, Kingies etc) will understand the concept

Cast right handed, reel left handed. At first it's counter intuitive, but once you got the hang of it, you can't do it any other way

Now this is going to be a shock to most, when it comes to spinning I cast right and reel left, cause I crank with my right hand, and yes it's great to be able to do so immediately and even sometimes slow down the lure whilst still in flight etc etc. but here's the joke when baitcasting I still struggle as I cast left and right but onle reel in right as I only own righthanded reels....... perhaps my netx reel should be a lefty, only thing is now I'm gonna have to change all my reels then, and that's gonna be a costly exercise........ I must admit comapring my spinning and baitcasting styles, I prefer my spinning style casting right and reeling left (I am right handed)

My problem is old age, it seems to have started about two well three months now (see what i mean) my right shoulder aches like nobodies business and this is a 24/7 ache, so perhaps I'll be forced to switch to change the spinning outfit's to be right handed again as striking with my right arm is becoming an issue.

I cast right and reel left with all my spinning reels. I am right handed and like to have my stronger arm on the rod. That said my fixed spools are all right hand retrieves, and I manage okay. Should look for a lefty reel though as it would be more comfortable.

I also cast with RH and wind with LH, it's only since I've been in SA that I see people doing it the other way round.

I do a two handed cast most of the time, I like casting far. If I pitch I would use my Right hand, then swap to reel in.  Come to think of it, my left hand is aready there while the lure is in flight. As it hits the water my left hand then take's over. difficult to explain without a rod in your hand.

my wife and i are both left handed in terms of writing, but with fishing I use right hand to throw and reel but she throws and reels with left hand!

 

guess its a case of using your " stronger" hand.

Easier controling the rod with your dominent hand and using the dum hand to real
It frustrates all my friends when they pic up my rods to reel in.
