Left Cape town on 15 Apr 2011

Bought all my bait at Komicx, packed my own very very fresh sardines. Took sardines, pike and chokka.

Rented a house in Henties at R110 person per day.

We four guys, I caught 40 kabeljou , the other three caught about 25 in total.

Caught my biggest kabeljou at Myl 72, 18 kg

Learn't a few valuable lessons, one was to use 9.5kg line and a 30kg leader, I used a 15kg line, could not cast that far.

If you want to catch fish, you must be commited, you cannot go there and sleepnext to the water, or not pay attention to your line that is in the water, you snooze you loose.

Our best catches were two hours after high tide up until three hours after low tide.

Had no problem coming back through any road blocks or at the border posts. I did fillet all my kablejou, yes it is illegal but ja, where must one pack all that fish.

Our weather was awesome, Sunday 24 Apr the cold front started moving in roughing up the sea and the fishing was over.

Total cost per person was R5100 which included all fuel, accommodation , bait and food

Thanx for your report, very true what you say about Henties, if you wanna catch fish, you have to work for it.

Kan nie glo hoe wit Fido daar in die agtergrond is nie, my pakkie (skaapboere) kry klontjies as Fido so na aan ons kom.

Ja daar by die Galg is daar so 5 van die Jakkalse wat jou kom besoek om afval aas te kom vreet.

My een maat wat saam was haat jakkalse met 'n passie, is ook deurmekaar met skape.

My redenasie is dat hierdie jakkalse nie eens weet hoe 'n skaap lyk nie, my bewondering vir die diere is hul oorlewings tegniek op hierdie kus.

Dit laat my "tick"

Johan, Donderdag het jou rekord nog gestaan. Ek het ook my kwota steenbras en kabeljou vinnig vol gemaak, maar helaas nie monsters nie. so lekker eet 50-60cm tipes

Dankie, my naam was lanklaas so lank op 'n swart/groenbord, maar dit voel lekker, ai, sit nou hier in die koue nat Kaap, sou wat wou gee om nou daar bo langs daai lang strande te kan staan, en die daai mooi natuurskoon te bewonder

Hi Johan,

Was dieselfde tyd as julle in Henties. Ervaring omtrent dieselfde - meeste van ons vis gevang op myl 72 en verder noord. Behalwe vir galjoen het al 8 van ons ons kwotas vol gevang. Was my eerste keer en dit is harde werk - maar ek gaan beslis weer.

Mooi kabeljou!
