Leeries

Where about is the best spot in SA to target these magnificent fish and when.  (especially considering their migratory patterns)

Also what do your rate as the best method (spin, plug, "dropshot") and which is your favourite pattern?

The excitement experienced when a school of leeries chase your popper on the surface and finally smash it... Ah man, Viskoors!

I can't say its the best place, but around August, Port St Johns deliver nice garricks - mostly on live baits tho!

live bait at either port St Johns, Brazen, any deepwtaer Transkei point for that matter, Mazeppa island, Van Stardens surf, Robberg point. Early morning as the sun is rising. Cant go wrong in summer months!

Otherwise almost all estauries and rivers hold small leerie. White and olive leadheads fished quickly through mid water, small white poppers in windier conditions.

Start at the river mouth on a low tide and move up ending at the highest spot on the high tide. That is a general rule of thumb that produced most of the time.
