Launching at Kenton

Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me whether I can launch my ski out of the Kariega mouth or do I have to do the beach launch at middle beach. I spoke to a conservation official who thought I could use the river mouth, but I just want to make sure.

Hi Creative,

I assume you are talking about the Eastern Cape. I was there about two years ago, and after an unpleasant experience at the harbor in PA, I went exploring for other potential launch sites.

I took a drive up and down the coast, and all I noticed at all the river mouths was signs forbidding Jetski use. As far as beach launching???

If you look around on the forum, you will notice that all the authorities south of KZN (Cape) are very sticky when it comes to river launching.

The jet ski anglers in the Cape have been battling this for quite a while now.

Jetskis are in theory not allowed to launch out of Kariga Mouth as the use of the slipway for jetskis is prohibited - but I have seen quite a few ski's using it anyway. Middle beach is an option to launch. Bokness a few kms further towards PE is def anoption with good fishing grounds a lot closer than in Kenton.

Middle beach is very easy to launch from. The rocks/boulders create a bay which we had no trouble launching with a paddle ski.

Boknes is a bit more difficult to launch from because of the surf but it's still easy.

Fishing wise I had more success in boknes
