Here you go Dillion...
Morning to all fishermen..it`s "klein saterdag" again and in the distance our minds are planning the weekend again. We are all so busy with our daily work and the stress and frustration just stacking up up,but then there is a day fishing that our body and mind needs and where is it more safer and better than in the Baan.So find that switch in the mind and switch over to fishing mode this weekend which will surely end up in a clear mind ready for hard work next week again.Planning the day and preparing the trip is just as nice as the outing itself..it`s information that we need to make it work and me and "the team of locals are giving you just that....
*Low tide will be around 9 O`clock in the morning.Go and pump prawn then. The cold front has passed so Saterday afternoon will still be a bit windy ,while Sunday might just see a breeze.
*The water temperature is too cold around and close to the Island.Fish south of the Yacht club,Leentjiesklip and close to the Iron Ore Jetty for Stumps.Use only prawn.
*The Spit has gone quiet, but Smooths are around..nice fat and big.
*High tide should be just after 2 O`clock in the morning and that is the time to target Elf and Cob....those on boats will be in these fish down on the Line for sure. The Cob is around 4 to 5 kg and one or two per boat. But Elf range from 1kg to 7kg at the moment and they are plenty at the turn of the tide. For Cob ,use fresh chokka(sharks might take it first) and beat it to get the flavour to come out.As Cob hunts on smell, you might want to put the pilchard, steentjie fillet, skipjack belly or an elf, inside out, showing the meat side. For Elf,a long strip of fish bait or a whole pilchard..remember the Elf takes the tail.In both cases use steel trace. You might want to make a combo of chokka strip and fish bait...works well.
*Also note you will require a box of patience and while on that..sit back and enjoy what you see...but remember to chance to fresh bait as often as possible.Do not throw your line back even if the bait still looks ok..replace it with fresh bait.
It is summer and our freezers are too empty...how about some nice fish cakes..see what I said about making them..right here on Sealine..go read it,tastes great.Well I`ll be on the water and will hope to see you around..make a plan and come fish with us.God bless!
