kzn social 23/11

It was an early start for most of us as Habib had organised for us to have the social at Baizley and we wanted to get there relatively early. We decided that we would meet at Tonys house and Habib would fetch us from there and take us to Baizley. While driving down we managed to get a look at the water and I must tell you it looked amazing! We make a pit stop at the shell garage just past Umkamaas to meet up with Heihaichi. We chatted for a while then sped off to get our baits in the water.

Upon arrival we were unsure whether to fish the surf area or off the rocks. We decided the rocks would be best as the water was deep and looked very promosing for some good fish. After continuously laughing at Habib trying to cast and getting over-wind after over-wind and changing his reel after every cast. Stu ws the first to get an enquiry but unfortunatley missed it because his sinker was stuck in the rocks. A short while after I got picked up by a small grey shark which was tagged, measuresed then released safely. Habib was still deciding on what reel he was going to mess up next. Started with the Trini 30 then to my Trini 50(by the way it was only reel he could cast without getting an overwind), then to the torium 30 becasue he ws complaining that the Trini was to big. However same story, he got an overwind, so he tried the saltist 50 but he could not get a decent cast out. Eventually he managed and slid out a nice bait.

The next to get a pick up was tony and he made short work of a decent sized Diamond with that rod of his, but unfortunatley lost in on the front rock. While Habib was trying to help land the Ray, he himself got picked up by a wave and swept across the rocks into a nice pool and came out looking like drown rat or Slamo:fbash

After the horendous sight of Habibs white see through shorts, he too got a pick up by a good sized Diamond but unfortunatley also lost it on the front rock. Then Tony landed a small Diamond of about 10kg and in our effort to release the fish it bit both me and Habib! Tony also got the next fish, a small Spinner of bout 10kg an i also got one a short time after of bout 8kgs. Stuart got the next and last take of the day, was a decent Diamond but his line got snagged on the rocks and he lost it. While we were fishing for the big boys we had Jonah and Jeryl(Emporer) graced us with there presence and they caught some small eds. Heihaichi got few stone bream and Critter also had some fun on the drop shot rod. Badprop, otherwise known as bathplug got a nice little lesser and few others.

Pieterh also came to show his support even on his cruches!!!::respekt:

the turn out for the day was pleasable. we had Tony, Habib, Critter, Heihaichi, Emporer, Jonah, Pieterh, Bad Ballie, Action man, Badprop, Stuart and few others (my apologize guys cannot remember everyone and im sorry if i left your name out)

All in all we had a great days fishing and my first social would be one that i will never forget! Would like to thank all the guys who made it possible and Habib for everything he did to make it happen (and for being a great sport).

looking forward to many more great ones guys!

Hi Guys, seems like you all had a great days fishing! That is the most frustrating part of this forum when you read about the coastal inhabiters fishing almost when you want as often as you want!

Seeing that you fish the area I am always curious obout Kelso and surrounding areas like the beach infront of Happy Wanderers and Park Rynie. Heard that a few kingies came out there last week, have any of you got more info, looking for good spots for both ed's and non-eds and what species are found there, any cob on that sandy beach?
